Karen Dudgeon, LCSW - Counseling for individuals and families at all ages and stages of life.

About

Life can be stressful; balancing work, family, and everything else that life throws at you can be difficult. Problems sleeping, feelings of anxiety, helplessness, and depression can further complicate already stressful situations.

I am a native of Homer, New York, and earned my BA in Sociology from SUNY Cortland before moving to New York to attend New York University’s School of Social Work for my MSW.

After graduating, I worked in many different settings, including schools, outpatient, and inpatient settings with people of all ages facing a myriad of challenges. I do not adhere to any one school of thought or therapeutic philosophy. We are all so different; how can we limit ourselves to just one way of thinking?

I do use many proven techniques starting from a strengths-based perspective to assist clients in being their best selves. These techniques include mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), trauma-informed practice, supportive therapies, and family systems.

I focus on progress - not perfection. My role is to assist clients in navigating the realities that they face on their terms by helping them find their strengths and help them to utilize those capabilities to the fullest.

If you feel you would like supportive help or need to talk, please call or contact me via this website so that we can discuss how we might work together.
